Residential Services:

The Residential Services Program provides support to both children and adults with disabilities. The goal of this program is to provide people with disabilities opportunities to develop their independent living skills so that they can live where they choose. We are currently serving members in Keokuk, Burlington, Fort Madison, Washington, Fairfield, Sigourney, Ottumwa, Oskaloosa, Knoxville, Centerville, Pella, and Bloomfield.

Residential Services: 

First Resources is currently certified to provide services under the Intellectual Disability, Physical Disability, Habilitation and Brain Injury waivers. The services available under these waivers are as follows:


 

  • Supported Community Living (SCL) Services
    • provided to adults and children on the ID or BI waivers. Services are provided in a variety of settings based upon individual needs, desires, and abilities. Services are provided in apartments, individual’s homes, as well as two, three, and four person sites. Individuals receive assistance and support within their home environment with priority given to the following issues: obtaining and maintaining safe and healthy living environments, personal care, community integration, accessibility within the community, and support with self-advocacy skills.

  • Home Based Habilitation​ Services
    • provided to adults on the habilitation waiver. Services are provided in a variety of settings based upon individual needs, desires, and abilities. Services are provided in apartments, individual’s homes, as well as two, three, and four person sites. Individuals receive assistance and support within their home environment with priority given to the following issues: obtaining and maintaining safe and healthy living environments, personal care, community integration, accessibility within the community, and support with self-advocacy skills.

  • Respite Services
    • designed to provide relief for caregivers who support individuals in the family home. The service are provided to adults and children in their home and community based upon family and individual needs. Respite services are provided in a variety of setting like the individual's home or apartment, family home, friend or neighbor's home, or camp. The emphasis is to provide services in the most appropriate, safe, and familiar setting to the individual while allowing the caregiver time for respite. Within the respite setting the individual's physical. emotional, and accessibility needs are identified and addressed.​

  • Consumer Directed Attendant Care (CDAC) Services
    • provided to adults and children in the home and community to assist the consumer with self-care tasks which the consumer would typically do independently if the consumer were otherwise able. These services include non-skilled services such as dressing, hygiene, meal preparation, cooking, housekeeping, medication management, communication, transportation, etc.
