Substance Abuse Treatment & Recovery Services:

First Resources Substance and Recovery services were created to provide treatment for youth and adults with substance abuse issues. Treatment is funded through Title XIX, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Principle/Midlands Choice, Interplan, Health Group/Humana, Tri-Care, United Healthcare, private pay and other private insurance companies. These services are available in Oskaloosa and Ottumwa.

Outpatient Programs

  • Intensive Outpatient Program 
    • specifically designed for adults experiencing a history of frequent relapse from drugs and alcohol. The program emphasizes education interventions so that clients can learn social, physical, and emotional effects of drugs and alcohol. Clients receive four group sessions per week lasting 2 hours each, and a weekly individual session lasting 1 hour. The duration of this program is 6-8 weeks. Call 641-682-2800 for more information or to make a referral.

  • Extended Outpatient Program 
    • designed for clients who are believed to have a firm grasp of the basic concepts of staying sober, working through individual roadblocks, and requiring less structure to maintain sobriety. The program is individualized, but lasts a minimum of 6 weeks. Extended Outpatient Programs are also available for adolescents age 12-17. Residential Treatment Programs

Clients live in a supportive, encouraging environment providing therapeutic interventions to enable a person to live addiction free.

Substance Abuse residential treatment service in which professionally trained staff provide the 24-hour care  and support needed to rebuild one’s life. These programs are designed to motivate individuals to maintain sobriety in addition to the added benefits of individual and group support. Partial hospitalization offered. As clients transition from residential care, a variety of outpatient programs can be incorporated for additional support. 

  • Hope House
    • The Hope House Treatment and Recovery Center specializes in providing residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment to clients with children and/or expecting mothers.  This program is unique in that children attend treatment with their parent, so the family can recover together. Hope House staff recognize addiction as a disease that affects all aspects of a person's life. The length of treatment depends on the individual and level of care needed to begin healing and recovery. Clients participate in scheduled programming which includes community groups, family therapy, and 12-Step meetings. General treatment time is 3-6 months.

  • Oak Meadow
    • Oak Meadow Treatment and Recovery Center specializes in providing residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment. This program focusing on relapse prevention, learning about the disease of addiction, and providing a therapeutic approach to support recovery. First Resources and Oak Meadow staff recognize addiction as a disease that affects all aspects of a person’s life, therefore, our treatment programs are equipped for co-occurring services to support a person’s recovery. General treatment time is 30-45 days

Other Services

  • Assessments and Evaluations 
    • conducted through the use of interviews and surveys requiring honest and open communication from the client. Clients provide information to the counselor regarding the extent of addiction or substance abuse. The counselor then assesses the level of care needed to provide an effective, personalized treatment plan.

  • Drug Testing 
    • offered in Ottumwa and includes: Breathalyzer, Hair Follicle, Urinalysis, Patch, and Saliva (Oral) drug testing. 

    • offered in Oskaloosa includes: Urinalysis.
